So, here we go... knitting!
Back in April, one of the fine ladies at We Do Not Have A Knitting Problem posted pics of a fabulous scarf in Malabrigo - pattern by Imagiknit in San Francisco. The photos sent many into a tizzy, self included, in search of the pattern. Luckily, a pal in the Bay Area picked up some yummy Malabrigo and the shop sample pattern #S316 (free with yarn purchase) for me and I was on the way to scarf love. The whole thing only takes one skein - I'm thinking holiday knitting... (and be sure to block - it's worth it!)

Nothing says July like a warm wooly scarf. Check out the hairy eyeball from my neighbor in the background. Mwahaha!

Pattern: Imagiknit Malabrigo Scarf (pattern #S316)
Yarn: Malabrigo worsted in Tortuga
Needles: US 9 (pattern calls for 10.5)
Finished Measurments: approx. 6.5"x72"
I've also finally finished Scallop from Rowan's Classic Beach. I very happy with this sweater; it's comfortable, it fits, it's soft, and it's finished. Did I mention that? Finished. The poor thing was put on the back burner for nearly a year. I had some headaches dealing with the soft nubby yarn and the set-in sleeves. I finally seamed it using bar-to-head grafting on the top of the shoulders and mattress stitch on the angled and vertical portions. Seaming the mesh portions wasn't as terrible as I feared - even the photos in the pattern book show a bit of a joining seam so it's all good. The only modifications were the length of the sleeves for my ubershorty arms. Four inches were removed (from the sweater, not my anatomy). I think I followed 38" finished size - it's a bit wide, but the cotton/silk has a good drape so it hangs nicely regardless.

Pattern: Scallop (Rowan Classic Beach)
Yarn: Classic Elite's Classic Silk (about 7.5-8 balls)
Needles: US 6 and 7 (addi)
Mods: Sleeve length shortened
And last but not least... another pair of socks. This pattern features a 'french heel' and a round toe. I'm still not sure how I feel about either. Each element looks nice and fits well, but... the heel isn't terribly thick (no slipped ribbing etc) and the toe fits a bit more snug than my usual 'flat' toe treatment. Again, the heel and toe fit and look great, but I'm still undecided.

Pattern: Oak Rib Socks (from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush)
Yarn: Opal Rainforest in Flamingo
Needles: US 1 (2.25mm)
Mods: none
What is it about socks? I swear sock yarn is laced. Laced in the illegal pharmaceutical sense, not the MonkeyMaven knitting sense. Opal Rainforest, I love you.

WOW!! That came out gorgeous!!! I love it! Your pics do the pattern so much better justice than mine did!!
So funny that you should post this FO right now too! Tomorrow I'm posting contest info since we are almost at 100 posts and one of the prizes is some Malabrigo and the pattern that I picked up at Imagiknit when I was there for their sale!
Great job!
Ok. I think I need that pattern. It's gotta be somewhere else besides SF though. I am now on a mission.
The sweater is awesome! I love the color and it does look so freakin' comfy! Has it really been that long since you started it?
Cool socks. They are indeed very flamingo. Heh.
Nice looking knits there!! That sweater looks really comfortable too!
I LOVE that scarf! It reminds me of Lizard Ridge. Very pretty! And your sweater and socks are lovely too. You've been busy!
Hi.
Ways to get Wollmeise in the States:
1) Order it directly from her. Go to her website and there is a way to turn it to English at the bottom. Then pick the colors/yarn you want. And then send her (Claudia) an email. She speaks excellent English so that is no problem. I am not sure how much the shipping to the States costs, but it might be a lot.
2) The Loopy Ewe is going to be stocking it soon! Though everyone is after it so I don't know how easy it will be to get from there. The plus side is domestic shipping. But I don't know how much she is charging for it.
3) Bockstark Knits from the Knitters Uncensored podcast is going to be offering a "taste of Germany" sock club in which she will send 5 skeins of sock yarn from German indie dyers in a certain color (ie blues, greens, reds, etc.).. one of which will be Wollmeise.
4) Offer to swap some cool American yarn with someone from Germany (Elemm and Bockstark Knits from the KU podcast have done a lot of that).
Hopefully one of those will work for you!
Blimey you have been busy! I love love love that scarf, it's really pretty.
The sweater looks great on you. I've decided that in future you can knit the 4 inches you don't need for sleeves and send them to me to save me knitting the extra inches I need for my monkey arms.

Hey dudette! U-M did you say? Will you have time to knit? Can you drive to A2 and knit at the same time?
Dad sez, Oh yeah I'm supposed to make those sock thingies for Amy. Don't hold your breath.
How was your birthday dinner?
vow, the sweater is great, the scarf is great and the socks are very cute. Great knitting!
