Happy 2007! 12 sweaters coming right up.

Happy 2007! We'll just ignore the WIP list and look at the sweaters du jour.... I started Hourglass between Christmas and New Years. I was all excited to work on it while watching New Year's Eve TV, but I left the darn thing at work. So my Jaywalker socks got the attention along with Ryan Secrest and Dick Clark. (uber-exiting New Year, eh?) Darwinia and I set out to knit Hourglass together but the stinker started before me. Luckily I have much shorter arms than she and I'm now working on the yoke with about 20 rows remaining. I'm a bit nervous about the hemming. I realized, too late, that I could have picked up the hem during knitting instead of having to fold and sew after the fact. I'm not looking forward to it as I can never seem to follow a straight row. Darwinia is doing a different edging treatment that won't require hems, so she'll certainly win the race. We've both joined a Sweater-A-Month KAL (link soon) so at least I know I'll have the January task completed in a timely fashion!

Here's Hourglass so far.... (Rowan Kid Classic in Swish)

Additionally, I'm planning on completing Wicked from the Zephyr girls in time for Valentine's Day (February's sweater, check.) At last a sweater I voted for, I really like and will actually wear, won the voting on the Sexy Knitters Club. Huzah! It's my first top-down sweater and so far it's won my favor. You can actually try it on while it's in progress. Whadda concept. I'm hoping for a good fit. I'm also hoping to make a pair of pink socks for V-day too, but don't hold your breath. I started Wicked on 1/8 in the Shetland Aran that has been so patiently sitting in the stash closet. I love the color, it's so cheerful.

Today is a gorgeously sunny but cold day with a few flurries blowing around. At last, winter-ish weather has arrived. I was starting to worry it would never come. I'm secretly jealous of the folks in Denver. No so jealous that I want 3+ feet of snow, but I'd take a few inches of the good stuff. Knitting bliss in a sunny living room with the kitties, a big mug of Peet's coffee, and DVDs. No school, no work. Ahhhh.... now I'm off to watch 'Young Frankenstein'. Classic.

I found your blog through the SKC -your Wicked looks GREAT! I think I am going to end up doing both of the SKC KAL sweaters this time as I like them both.

I've been thinking about doing the 12 sweaters for 2007 KAL, as I know I made at least 12 in 2006, but the thing that scares me is having to do one each month! I usually work on a bunch at once so I finish a bunch at once.

That is a pretty colour; is there some variation in the darkness of the pink, or is it just my monitor?

Thanks ladies! I knit for 7 hours yesterday and my fingers are feeling it today...

LLDoc- the variation must be shadows, it's just a solid pink with the faintest heathering.

Robin- join the crazy dozen sweater gang. I'm going for an average of 1/month. (Yikes!)

Your hourglass will be done in no time, you're really cranking it out at the moment.

I love the colour you chose for wicked, it will look great on you.

I too joined the crazies but am cheating this month by doing a baby sweater!

Those are looking great! 12 sweaters in a year sounds ambitious, but I guess if you're not doing lace or 10 color Fair Isle, it's doable. Looks like you're much faster than me anyway.
